How to Make the Most of Your Beach Vacation

Everybody loves taking a vacation by the seaside, and what’s not to love? Sporty types can have a game of volleyball on the beach. Water-babies can spend their day swimming in the sea, and those looking to relax can lie in the sun with their favorite book and a drink in their hand. That’s why so many people opt for seaside vacations because there’s so much to see and do. Enough to even keep the most stroppy of teenagers entertained. So, if you’re planning on packing a bucket and spade and heading to a beachside location anytime soon,  you might want to read this first. Because while beach vacations can be fun, if you fail to plan things properly, your beach vacation might turn out to be one that you’d rather forget.

How to Make the Most of Your Beach Vacation

Be Prepared

If you’re planning on spending most of your holiday at Imperial Beach, then it’s essential that you prepare before you go. You may only be on vacation for a short time so, if you take some time to organize yourself beforehand, you’re more likely to get the most out of your vacation. If you’re taking the whole family with you, think about what each family member will need to keep them occupied. Whilst you might be more than content to just lie in the sun all day, kids and teenagers are more likely to need more to keep them entertained. Pack swimming costumes, sporting equipment and anything else you might need, but only if you’re certain that they’re going to be used. That way, your vacation won’t be ruined by children complaining that there’s not enough to do.

You Can Never Have Too Much Sunscreen

Many of us choose a beach vacation because as well being fun, it’s also an opportunity to top up on that suntan. The tanned look is very on trend right now, and so it’s not surprising that so many people go to the beach hoping to get that healthy, sun-kissed glow. People forget just how strong the sun’s rays can be and underestimate the damage that it can do to their skin. You don’t want a nasty sunburn to ruin your beach vacation.  That’s why it’s essential that you pack enough sunscreen to protect both you and the rest of the family. Children’s skin is more vulnerable to sun-damage than the average adult’s. So ensure that they always wear sunscreen that offers UV protection of at least factor 30 or above. Make sure that you also keep yourself lathered up, to help protect yourself and set a good example to your children.

Drink Plenty of Water

People tend to underestimate just how dangerous dehydration can be, which is why it’s essential that when on your beach vacation, you drink plenty of water. Sunstroke is equally dangerous, and it’s a very real problem for those who spend prolonged periods on the beach. If you’re playing volleyball, or swimming in the sea, you need to replace any fluids that you lose, so be sure to take regular breaks.  Try to avoid sugary drinks or those loaded with caffeine.  They’ll dehydrate you faster.

Taking a little time to plan your trip before you go will help ensure that you get the best out of your beach vacation. So, I suppose all that’s left to say is ‘send us a postcard!’
