Tips for an Eco Friendly Wedding on a Budget

So you want to have an eco friendly wedding on a budget?  It’s not impossible, it just takes some creative planning.

Your big day is right around the corner. You’re getting married in an eco friendly wedding. But here’s the problem. You want to save money and you’re a bit of a tree hugger. A frugal tree hugger? That’s usually an oxymoron! Traditional weddings, with ample confetti, rice and so on, can be full of waste – both ecologically and financially!

Planning an eco friendly wedding on a budget doesn’t have to be hard.  You just need to think about things differently.

Party Favors and Centerpieces

So, first of all, how do you plan an eco-friendly wedding? Let’s start with the basics.

Party favors, decked out with ribbons and paper products, can be one of the most wasteful aspects of the wedding party. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Seed packets, which you can customize with portraits of yourself and your future spouse, can be a unique and unforgettable party favor.

And let’s go a step further. How about the centerpiece? These usually consist of cut flowers and ribbons, and there’s a lot of potential for waste here, too. It doesn’t have to be that way. A potted plant or terrarium can not only give your wedding a unique and personal touch, but is significantly more eco-friendly than using flowers you’ll eventually throw out.  Plus, they make a great gift for those centerpiece stealers.  You know who you are.

Food

But you don’t need to stop at party favors. Food is often a huge part of any wedding party. However, you may be concerned about whether or not the food you’re buying is locally sourced or organic.

Never fear. With help from your chosen wedding venue, you can hire caterers who specialize in locally sourced and sustainable food for your eco friendly wedding. Whether it’s seafood, produce or even dessert itself, you can indulge your guests in fine cuisine, all while doing your part to save the planet from CO2 emissions and more.  Take a trip to your local farmer’s market and see what’s really out there.  You may be surprised.

The Theme

And if you’re really gunning to do your part in raising awareness, you can even incorporate environmental issues into your wedding plans. Whether you’re paying tribute to the Arctic ice caps or the ozone layer, there’s a theme for you.

Not only can a wedding planner connect you with a vendor, but they can help get you in touch with expert designers who can help you plan out your dream, eco friendly wedding.

Through careful coordination of party favors, centerpieces, the food, the venue and more, there’s a lot that goes into creating a unique and memorable eco friendly wedding theme that your guests will remember for years after the event.

Dolling Up

It doesn’t stop there. Even the bridal gown and the groom’s suit can be designed or purchased with the environment in mind. By repurposing family dresses or wearing suits or dresses made from all natural fiber, you can strut down the aisle in style at your eco friendly wedding, all while keeping the environment in mind.

And by incorporating natural, organic make-up, you can look your best on the big day too, all without harming Mother Earth.

Getting Ready for the Big Day

With your big day around the corner, it’s time to get to get to work. So what are you waiting for?
