Getting married is one of the biggest events in a person’s life.  It becomes all consuming, with the places you have to go, and the things that you need to do.  And the expense!  It seems that because mention the “w” word, the price on anything skyrockets.  You can host your own party, quickly and inexpensively.  Here are a few ideas.

Wedding Party Ideas

Have a Dessert Party

Instead of feeding everyone, have desserts only.  Cookies, cake pops, and mini cupcakes are all great ideas.  The set of three tiered pedestal cake plates from Target are help create a fabulous centerpiece.  How about a platter of cheesecake bites?  Classic brownies are a fantastic choice, as well.  Serve coffee, milk, tea, iced tea, and maybe a good wine.

Carry the theme with brightly colored décor, and scatter candies like jelly beans or m&ms around.  Get a couple of glass jars {or use drinking glasses!} to fill with candy, licorice, or other treats.

Movie Night

Maybe you’re having some people over to help you finish up stuff.  You know, when you become the Bridezilla and make everyone else miserable?  Make it a fun night.  Pop in a DVD, make some popcorn and other finger foods, and have a good time.  I attended a party like this for a friend, and we all had so much fun.  We got a lot accomplished with very few meltdowns, as well.

Bridal Shower Brunch

Instead of a luncheon, why not try a brunch?  Gather up your friends and family, and put on a spread.  Quiche is fairly easy to make, and really impresses people.  It also serves several, rather than having to make each dish one at a time.  This pumpkin bread pudding is a great dish for a brunch.  Serve mimosas or juice sparklers in an elegant glass.

Cocktail Party

For something a lot more elegant, try a cocktail party.  Everyone likes to get dressed up, right?  Hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, wine, what’s not to like?  Be sure to have several options available for the designated drivers and those who simply don’t partake.  You can make your own Hors d’oeuvres or you can pick up any of the wide variety available in the Target frozen foods section.  Try a bottle of Skinnygirl Prosecco for something really festive.  Any of the Riedel stemware would be a great addition.
