I have always been a fan of fancy switchplate and outlet covers.  I spent many an hour decoupaging switchplates, and everyone knew what they were getting for holidays.  Sometimes, if they were especially nice to me, I’d even take requests!

Getting Experimental with Devo Olive Oil

devo9pcsamplerbottleswm 550 x 413 Getting Experimental with Devo Olive Oil

One of the things that just about any chef worth their salt has in their cabinet is good quality Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) and a quality balsamic vinegar.

Devo Olive Oil takes their selections beyond the basics.  With more than 20 flavors each of EVOO and Balsamic Vinegars, there’s bound to be something for everyone.  Because of the daunting selection available, Devo does a lot of different things.  They have an extensive selection of already matched oils and vinegars.  One such pairing is their “Peachy Keen” which is Georgia Peach White Balsamic and Organic Persian Lime EVOO.

One of the other things that Devo Olive Oil does so well is that they create samplers of their oils and vinegars.  For the price of a full sized bottle or two, you can sample 4, 6, or  9 different flavors.  They even have a huge 16 piece sampler pack!

Speidel Watches are an American Made Classic

speidelwatch 525 x 394 Speidel Watches are an American Made Classic

When I was a kid, I watched a lot of TV.  I mean, a LOT of television.  Basically, that was all I did besides go swimming.  My favorite TV shows were the daytime game shows like Press Your Luck and Let’s Make a Deal.  One of the brands that I remember being featured regularly was Speidel Watches

In fact, my grandmother had a Speidel watch, and I thought that was one of the most amazing things.  I even asked her if she’d been on TV, as she couldn’t have possibly, y’know, purchased the watch herself.

Consider Aldi for your Holiday Parties

aldilogo 525 x 624 Consider Aldi for your Holiday Parties
Have you ever shopped at Aldi?  Although I had heard about Aldi, and we have two stores nearby, I had never ventured into one.  Some of my friends swear by their quality, prices, and unique way of doing business.  Aldi is a European based grocery chain and is sort of like shopping at one of the discount club stores only on a much smaller scale.
What kind of stuff does Aldi offer, you ask?  Well, it’s mostly packaged foods, with a small selection of fresh produce and refrigerated items.  They also have a fair amount of frozen foods for a smallish store.

History + Kitsch = The Route 66 Encyclopedia

rte66encyclopedia History + Kitsch = The Route 66 Encyclopedia
I love to travel, and driving vacations are some of the best.  Route 66, which runs from Chicago, Il west to Los Angeles, CA is a great way to see remnants of a bygone era.  The Route 66 (The Main Street of America), though, is still traveled by thousands every year.
In the early part of the twentieth century, the US used mostly intermittent highways to travel any distance.  Late in the 1920s, though, we started having long stretches of highways that were loosely knit together; and Route 66 was one of the first of these.  Millions of people traveled west on this road through Illinois, Missouri, Kansas,  Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California.
