As regular readers may know, I moved into my current place about a year ago. While I signed a year lease, I never intended to live here for a year. It was just a temporary stop. Fast forward 13 months.
I have recently decided to unpack my belongings. I’ve spent the past year with boxes stacked floor to ceiling, waiting to move again. Of course, in the past year, there have been lots of things that I couldn’t find. My hair straighter. Certain garments. Discs of images for work. Kitchen gadgets. All kinds of things.
I’d call the ex up, as we’re still on friendly terms, and ask if he had these things. He’d deny it, I’d say okay, and hang up or delete the text. Secretly, though, I was convinced he was keeping my crap, for whatever odd reason.
I just knew he was keeping it all in a shrine he had built, completely devoted to me. That had to be it, right? I mean, why else would we have stayed on friendly terms? I mean, it’s not like we weren’t planning a wedding or anything? *rolls eyes*
We were planning a wedding, then called it off, for those that don’t know.
Last weekend, for some odd reason, I decided to start unpacking boxes. I was looking for a couple specific things, mostly craft related, and it was amazing what I started to find. I found a whole box of clothes that I’ve been looking for. In another box? My flat iron! There was a whole box that was marked books that ended up being kitchen items and dishes.
I still haven’t come across the craft items I’m looking for, but it does appear that I may owe a certain someone an apology. Oh, and I might want to get over myself.
What have you recently jumped into?
