This is a Fashionista Event. I was given a promotional item to review by 9thandElm.com to share my opinions about the website. All opinions are my own.
I love handmade and artisan goods. It’s kinda my thing. However, I really dislike the major site where most people see their handmade and artisan goods. Now, there’s an alternative site – 9thandElm.com
The folks at 9thandElm.com were nice enough to provide us some credit to test out the site. It was loaded with all different indie artisans and a select collection of each artisan’s wares. There’s lots of jewelry and accessories. There were infinity scarves and knitted scarves and regular fabric scarves. Handbags and purses in various styles abound. I even saw these super awesome upcycled liquor bottles that had been made into glasses, candles, and even a candy dish. I had planned to order from them, but I forgot, then they were gone.
Oh yeah…you’ve gotta order and make your decisions, as most items are available in limited quantities and only for a short time. Most brands are available for somewhere between 4 and 7 days, while others may be longer or shorter. I’ve also seen items sell out within a few minutes of the daily email being sent out.
I chose a few different items. The first was a Chevron patterned scarf and head wrap. The scarf was cute, but the headwrap didn’t fit. It wasn’t even close to fitting. In fact, I think it might have been child sized. I have a big head, but it’s not that big, KWIM? I put these items somewhere for safe keeping, so when I come across them, I’ll update the post with pics, too. Heh.
Later, I saw that there were some really fun statement necklaces. And some arm party bracelets. Oh! And some fun rayon scarves. Sooo…that’s what I bought!
I also picked up a really fun Skull scarf. These are pretty popular, with even Alexander McQueen issuing his own version. The scarf was $12, which is a pretty decent price, especially for a full-sized rayon scarf.
I’ve seen the bracelets for upwards of $60 on other sites, and it was $14 on 9thandElm.com. Ummm…SCORE! Two complaints – One, the design of the bracelet makes it really hard to put on. The clasp has almost no play room, and is difficult to maneuver. I’m going to remove the clasp, add a little piece of chain, and add the clasp back on. Two: The bracelets say that they have leather and/or suede straps, and they’re not. They’re vinyl/plastic/pvc. It’s okay, and likely the same as the $60 bracelets. Just be aware.
Finally, there’s this awesome statement necklace. Rows of rhinestones and chain that are all a perfect color gradation. It needs to be lengthened just a bit, but that’s my own preference. I wasn’t sure about this necklace at first, but I took a leap of faith. And I am so glad that I did! I love this necklace, and it’s so unlike something I would normally choose. It was under $20, too! You almost can’t go wrong at that price.
