When I was a kid, the digital thermometers that were used in the ear came out in wide release.  I have to admit, I thought that was the coolest thing ever!  You can take my temperature by sticking this in my ear for a couple seconds rather than holding this thing in my mouth for three minutes?!  SOLD!

As an adult, I still thought the ear thermometers were a great idea.  Until I discovered the Exergen Temporal Artery Thermometer.   The Exergen thermometer takes your temperature by running it across the forehead.

But…how?  Why Does This Work?

The Exergen Temporal Artery Thermometer works because the Temporal Artery, which connects to the Carotid Artery,  is in your forehead and links directly to your heart via the Carotid Artery.  When you roll the thermometer across the forehead, it generates thousands of scans.  It then selects the most accurate of these scans as your temperature.

The Exergen thermometer doesn’t need probe covers, and it can be used when you have an ear infection.  You can even use it on a sleeping infant! No one wants to wake up a cranky baby.

I’m not the only one that thinks the Exergen TemporalScanner technology is amazing, either.  I mean, the How Was Your Day? Seal of Approval is something all companies should strive for, but there are others that feel this way as well.

  • Inc Magazine named it as one of the  “25 Smartest Products of the Decade.”  This is along with items like Netflix, Google, iPod, and Blackberry.
  • Leading hospitals like Johns Hopkins and  Boston Children’s Hospital use the Exergen TemporalScanner.  It has also been the subject of more than 40 case studies in various prestigious hospitals.
  • This has been seen on leading medical TV shows, like Grey’s Anatomy and The Mob Doctor.

With all of these accolades, isn’t the Exergen Temporal Artery Thermometer something that belongs in your house?

You can connect with Exergen on Facebook or Twitter, too.

Well you must be younger than me. I only had the old school thermometers that dropped and broke and were a nightmare of glass and mercury. No fun. Love how many options there are out there.

We own two of them – they're great! I do find that you get a different read out every time you use it, which is understandable… so we usually scan 3 times in a row and use the middle or average one. We use ours all the time!

We have one of these and it is very convenient in a pinch! I still use the old fashioned one under the arm most of the time because I have that old school frame of mind and I don't trust the temporal one as much. But when my boy is fighting about taking a temp, this is awesome!
