Comments

  1. Use washable and reusable baggies for sandwiches and snacks!

  2. hang your clothes out to dry instead of using the dryer and wash clothes on cold

  3. I used zero wrapping paper this Christmas – we've been recycling fabric gift bags, baskets and sturdy boxes for several years now.  If you're giving some kitchen items, for instance, you can wrap them in a new kitchen towel or a bath set can be made into a simple origami design.

  4. A natural way of removing any odors in your fridge is to just place an open container of baking soda in it.

  5. Heather Turner says:

Cut your steel pads in half with your kitchen shears.  It doubles the number of pads you use for cleaning around the house and it sharpens your shears!

  6. upcycle items such as pallets and drawer pulls to make cute coat racks out of items that would otherwise go to the landfills.

  7. Make a compost for left over food. That's what we do at my house.

  8. sandra davis says:

recycle everything you can……..we have recycling bins here that they pick up once a week…its great

  9. Terri Moore says:

Soak a cloth in home-made fabric softener – let it dry completely and it can be used as a dryer sheet for  many loads.

  10. Use vinegar as a weed killer instead of chemicals.

  11. Abby Kraynick says:

Use a rain barrell to catch rain to water your garden with.

  12. Donna Cheatle says:

use vinegar and crumpled up newspapers to clean windows instead of commercialized chemicals

  13. annette campbell says:

I recycle aluminum foil and cans

  14. christie kammerer says:

  15. Grow at least a portion of your own food. If you live in an apartment you can do your gardening in containers. High Mowing Organic Seeds is a great source for 100% organic vegetable, herb, and flower seeds!

  16. I use vinegar and baking soda (not mixed together) for cleaning and freshening around the house and salt for cleaning my drains =D

  17. Do what I did. Ditch the car, walk or ride the bus.

  18. Christmas I put most of my family's gifts in Christmas bags I use year after year..

  20. recycle everything you can. Cardboard, all plastics and metal, newspapers and magazines..and rinse out the cans/cartons before you throw them in the bin, it's the polite thing to do! ;)  I agree about steam mops, they are amazing. And re-using gift bags, we do that as well. But all of this has been said! Hmm. Make sure to use re-usable cloths for cleaning rather than paper towels!

My eco friendly tip is to is to use common household ingredients for cleaning (baking soda, cider vinegar, peroxide, etc.) instead of buying toxic, expensive cleaners.

  28. Wanda McHenry says:

Wash only full loads of laundry in cold water

  29. Peggy Rydzewski says:
