I love granola. Always have, probably always will. It all stems back to my childhood, when my mom wouldn’t allow me to have sugary cereals. I’m okay with that, and thinking back, I was in 4th or 5th grade before I had sugary cereal. One of the things she did allow was Granola.
Now, back in the day, granola was somewhat difficult to find, even in the health food stores. This was before Whole Foods, and Trader Joes was just coming into existence. When you found a bag of granola at the store, it was like you found the holy grail.
Fast forward 20 odd years and granola has become a staple on store shelves. Which, of course, makes me a happy girl. There are so many different kinds of granola that you could try something new every week!
This all brings me to Erin Baker’s Wholesome Baked Goods and their super-tasty granola. Erin Baker‘s makes two different lines of granola – Homestyle Granola and Endurance Granola. What’s the difference, you ask?
The homestyle granola is more like the granola people are used to. There’s clusters of rolled oats, honey, dried fruits and nuts, and even chocolate! Whhaaaa???? Chocolate Granola? Um, hello! Where do I go to get that?
Erin Baker’s Endurance Granola is a little bit different. While it still has all the granola goodness we’ve come to love and expect, but with the added bonus of protein! It’s also jam-packed full of ancient whole grains like quinoa, flax, chia, and oats. Because of these ingredients, the Endurance Granola line is loaded with Omega 3’s that give energy and stamina, fiber, and antioxidants.
Endurance granola is the official granola of Ironman Triathlon, too, so you know it’s good stuff. It also comes in three flavors:
Power Crunch – Made with whole grains, natural peanut butter, honey, and molasses. There’s also a whopping 9 grams of protein in a serving.
Kona Crisp – The same great whole grains with coconut, mango, pineapple, and papaya.
Tri Berry Blend – Strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries are added to this flavor.
I know, you’re saying “But how does it taste?”
It tastes really good. I think the Kona Crisp is my favorite, but I kind of love almost anything that has coconut and/or tropical fruit. I like the Power Crunch and the Tri Berry Blend as part of a parfait or even as a mid afternoon snack.
I also found that the whole grains and the added protein kept me fuller longer. When I had the Endurance Granola with a little bit of fruit, I didn’t even get hungry until lunch time.
You can buy Erin Baker’s Wholesome Baked Goods at retailers all over or directly from their site. They also have breakfast cookies!!
