Bertolli has just launched a new line of frozen soups called Bertolli Meal Soups. As a busy person, I’ve always liked the frozen meals, and Bertolli’s were my favorite. So you can imagine my excitement that they had new choices for me to make! Ooh la la! The best part is that these only take a few minutes to make
Before I went to the store to pick these up, I checked online to make sure that there was a vegetarian option. On the Bertolli website, there was no mention of meat in the tortellini soup. Perfect! – or so I thought. When I got to the store, I saw that the package said Tortellini…with chicken. Hmmm…
I bought it anyway, along with the Minestrone soup, and brought them home. We tried the Minestrone soup first. I opened the bag and dumped it out into a pot. I could easily see the large chunks of chicken, so I just removed them. No biggie. I followed the directions of adding a cup of water and stood there and watched. I didn’t bring it to a boil, as I was using kind of an over-sized pot. Plus, I really like to watch the sauce cubes melt. I’m odd that way. Once everything was hot, I served it up. I’d say it was on the table within 10 minutes or so. I also made garlic bread to go with the soup.
As for the flavor of the soup, it was really good. One of the things I like about Bertolli is the fact that they use really good quality ingredient in their products. The vegetables were flash frozen when they were ripe, and not past their prime. The pasta was tender without being mushy, and the broth was very flavorful without being overly salty. All in all, I’d definitely buy Bertolli Meal Soups again. My only recommendation is that they offer at least one vegetarian option.
